al-Tabib or "the Doctor" was the first Arabic medical journal in the East established by one of the founding fathers of the Syrian Protestant College, Dr. George Edward Post, and the journalist Shāhīn Makāryūs in Beirut, 1874. The magazine initially appeared under the title "Akhbar Tibbiyah". Many prominent local editors and doctors such as Ibrahim Al-Yaziji, Dr. Khalīl Saʻādah, Dr. Iskandar Bārūdī and Bishārah Zalzel had an important role in publishing this journal. more
